The International Workshop on Enhancing Cooperation of Moldovan Public Authorities with the Media and Civil Society on Combating Terrorism will begin on December 8, 2009 in Chisinau

The Pro Marshall Center of the Republic of Moldova announces the organization in Chisinau of an International Workshop on Enhancing Cooperation of Moldovan Public Authorities with the Media and Civil Society on Combating Terrorism.

The event will be supported by the Pro Marshall Center of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova.

This International Workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss relations between relevant Moldovan public authorities, the media and the civil society in combating terrorism. It will aim to identify ways to strengthen cooperation and generate advice on practical steps for more effectiveness. More broadly, the workshop will offer an occasion to share good practices and guidelines for better cooperation of state institutions with the media and civil society on security and defence matters. Facilitating a common understanding by Moldovan state institutions, representatives of the media, and civil society on the development and implementation of national anti-terrorist policies also feature among the key objectives of this event.

The workshop will gather representatives of state institutions involved in combating terrorism, as well as members of the media, and civil society involved in foreign and security affairs. Representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Chisinau, as well as experts from NATO and selected PfP countries, the OSCE, and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly have also been invited to participate.

The International Workshop on Enhancing Cooperation of Moldovan Public Authorities with the Media and Civil Society on Combating Terrorism will begin on December 8, 2009 at 10.00 and will take place at the Ministry of Defense Conference Hall (84 Hincesti Highway).

This workshop is co-organised by: North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces (DCAF).
